Talk Talk Restricting Users

Been trying to get back in, but so much has changed with servers etc, i cant even find a guide to connect anymore!

see a few years ago, KM had a paddy tantrum, closed his site & caches, pulled out of winmxworld, then slapped them with an order to remove winmx and his patch from site,

so they got a new patch and now mx is offsite

Got winmx installed, and have a green light, but still cant see anyone in the rooms

any ideas?

we have had a few people that cant see stuff in rooms, 9 out of 10 they are using an ISP that cap's users during peak times,

ive known peak time to be 3pm-10pm & 1pm-11pm & 10am-10pm and even all weekend

some of the offending ISP's include AOL/Talktalk/Tiscali
they was 3 of the worst to restrict users, they have now merged to be the single worst.

yeah, its talktalk. the full MOTD did not load.

Is it a port issue or what? as i dont see any other way they could cap such a little ammount of information without affecting the internet speed.

i think they look at packets,
1 person i know uses robomx nor winmx and he also uses proxy's to connect, its the only way he finds to connect/get in & stay in rooms.

I've just had a 2 hour phonecall with technical support.

From the tech, to the supervisor, to the manager.

The manager is issuing me with a written letter confirming TalkTalk do not, in any way, monitor or block packets sent to and from the internet, nor do they block any ports on my account.

They have blocked ports on accounts that have misused the fair usage policy, but my account is not one of those accounts.

He goes on to state "As a talktalk manager, i can confirm that your account is not activly being blocked in any way from accessing the internet or VPN's, and there is no reason why any program should not connect via our network, that does connect on another service providers network."

Quite a statment eh?

this we have seen with other TalkTalk users,
yet after your lengthy chat, you was able to enter and stay with us for a chat,

Nope, now i can see a full chanellist, but as soon as i enter the room all my primary connections drop.

yep, we know of 2 other people with the same problem, either cant see anything or chat, or they fall out disconnected,
they are both on TalkTalk too, 2 other people i know also on TalkTalk use proxies to connect, get in, see a fiull motd & list, stay in & chat.

Sorry to butt in, a little late I know,
ISP's like Pipex, Opal, Tiscalli, Bulldog and many more have been taken over by Talk Talk,
Bulldog became part of Tiscalli, they in turn became part of Talk talk,
also I heard somewhere that AOL & Talk Talk have merged,

The top 3 ISP's that was restricting users was,
1, Talk Talk
2, Tiscalli
3, AOL

now the top 3 has merged to become the worst nightmare for alot of users.

thanks for pointing that out,

i did speak to someone the other day, they are with Opal and yes they are now part of Talk Talk, he has the same problem with entering and chatting.

Do you have any way to prove this restriction? as i have asked the question both officially and discreetly and both answers are there are no restrictions in place at all by talk talk.

I'd like to have something i can go back with to say "yes you are! look!"

i havent got concrete proof to show, all we have is,
a few friends cant get in many chat rooms, they enter, cant see the motd, cant see a userlist, cant type, well we see it, they cant,
1 friend changed from Talk Talk to another provider and brilliant, she can do all the things i mentioned,
another friend is changing to another provider this month,

i actually run a different server now, its ZCS and ppl on Talk Talk can get in and chat,
so if you managed to pop in mine between 5pm-8pm you may see a Talk Talk user that is changing, he can explain the exact same symptoms you are having,
another friend i hold her room for her because she is with AOL, they combined with Talk Talk, she gets capped, sometimes cant talk or see the motd, she can no longer host, is why i hold her room.

I too am on talktalk and cannot enter many winmx rooms.
