| hi people,i am looking a short script so that when a user enters room i get the entry time and stay time + the leave time on exit. Had a look through the scripts on here but are to long and i don't know that much to be able to change them for metis 2.8 on wcs running on a private server. | |

| Hi Shakes, to be honest with you, there is no such thing as a short script that that will do what you want, using WCS is limited to what it can do, but have you tried RSWCS? it can show the entry time/date in the fancy entry, and can show stay time on the fancy exit, its all built in the server, so no need for a huge script,
but if you want a script to add to your metis, it is long, it has to be, so it can read all the info needed, it is 3 large scripts and a folder for the different info text's, and is very hard to set up, i tried using it with WCS, but gave up and use the 1 built in RSWCS.

| Hi Max,
Thank's for the info, but my buddy is hosting our room (wcs) on his private server and does not like to use rswcs,so i am stuck with using wcs. This leave me having to us metis.
I have tried to setup the script you are talking about, but myself not being up to configs i find it very hard to do such stuff as setting them up.
Thanks again for the info. Shakes.

| it is best that the person hosting the room, also hosts the metis, this prevents errors like bot fall-out, not reading the Ip of the host, possibly incorrect time etc,
but the long scrip[ts took me 4 or 5 attempts to set up, then i decided it didn't work as hopped, sometimes someone would leave and the bot shows a staytime of something like "name stayed -98342 seconds" this is just one error, another error was it could not give a staytime at all, but this was occasional, possibly due to ascii characters in a name.

| I'm sure a simple OnEnter script would do this, would it not?
I believe i had one based on IP addresses, that was about 30 lines long, using the onenter and onexit commands to write the IP, name and time to a text file, then onexit, look for that IP line and append the leave time to it. (i found it easier to search for the IP as the name can sometimes use charecters that dont read or write well in metis.)
If i could get metis to actually work with my ISP, i may be able to recreate it...

| there was a small 1 that was just that, added the IP and entry time to a txt file, it read from that txt file to show staytime, i had tried it in metis and it was working, i found 3 problems though, 1, it was for FX, it didnt want to work so good in WCS, 2, because it didnt like WCS it gave no staytiome 50% of the time, 3, if you entered with say a client as well as your winmx, one name leaves, it reads the IP and may show staytime, or it may not, but the second name leaves and staytime was not found, due to it reading the IP from both names as 1 user. | |
