| Restoring Gadgets After Disabling User Account Control If you have changed your User Account Control settings to Never notify, by default Gadgets will not be displayed on the desktop. Fortunately a simple registry change will solve the problem 1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Sidebar \ Settings
3. Right-click on the right panel and create a new DWORD (32-Bit) Value named AllowElevatedProcess.
