Disable Unwanted Programs

Disable Error Reporting
    1. Click Start
    2. Sellect Control Panel
    3. Click on System.
    4. Then click on the Advanced tab
    5. Click on the error reporting button on the bottom of the windows.
    6. Select Disable error reporting.

Disable Automatic Updates
    1. Click Start
    2. Sellect Control Panel
    3. Click on System.
    4. Then click on the Automatic Updates tab
    5. Click on the Option you want

Disable Or Adjust System Restore
    1. Click Start
    2. Sellect Control Panel
    3. Click on System.
    4. Then click on the System Restore tab
    5. Click on the Turn Off System Restore or
    6. Move the Slider Bar to the desired amount of space that Sytem Restore uses

Disable Remote Desktop
    1. Click Start
    2. Sellect Control Panel
    3. Click on System
    4. Then click on the Remote tab
    5. Uncheck the Remote Assistance Feature Only If You Do Not Want Remote Assistance

Disable Hibernation
    1. Click Start
    2. Sellect Control Panel
    3. Click on Power Options
    4. Click on the Hibernate tab
    5. Uncheck Enable Hibernation

Disable Windows XP Firewall
If you have another firewall installed, you should Disable the XP Firewall
    1. Click Start button
    2. Sellect Control Panel
    3. Double click the Windows Firewall icon
    4. Sellect Disable Firewall or Uncheck the Enable Firewall depending on service pack 1 or 2
    5. You will probably see a ballon top pop up telling you that your firewall is off, unless Windows recognises the firewall you have installed, something like Komodo, Sygate, Zone Alarm, Jetico, Outpost.
