Here is the well liked FX Server, its easy to use and customise, some nice features in it,
but this has been known to crash from time to time, suddenly closing for no reason,
the 1.3.9 is more stable than the 1.3.10 betta, but both will crash,
as this server is no longer made, all support has stopped, it has become obsolete,
because it is popular, here is the 2 versions
1.3.9 (fairly stable)

Language=ENG or Language=ITA
There are two languages that you can run FXServ in and they are English and Italian,

/Port 1595
This is the port that FXServ will listen on for incoming connections. You have to choose a port that no other program uses.

/setchannelname Test Room
/setchannelname2 The Test Room
This is for you too choose the name of your room

/topic Test Room topic
The topic is displayed after your room name on the WinMX Peer Network Chat page

/setmotd Testing room\nWelcome $NAME$!
The Message Of The Day (MOTD) is the first thing a user sees when he enters the room, a lot of people put pictures etc in this part of the config.
The use of \n means newline,

/TextFormat 1=#c2#<$NAME$#c2# #c1#$TEXT$
Text format is how your text will be displayed in the room, you can configure this to make different styles for different user's
You can use colour codes here but it must contain $NAME$ and $TEXT$ or nothing will be displayed in the room.

/DefaultAccess acCvJj
Default access is what level a basic user joining your room will have on entry,

/DefaultFormat User=1
/DefaultFormat +=2
/DefaultFormat Admin=3
When you are creating text formats you can assign a standard user/member/admin login a certain text style. You do this by setting the text format up how you like and use the corresponding number.

/addPassword agentpass=blw+=2
This is where you create passwords for your admin and ops. The letter corresponds to what you would like that user to be able to do in your room.

Here are the access letters for FX
a - Action.
You can use the command /action text or /me text. This function serves for expressing an action. For example, /me goes to sleep becomes a text in third person.

v - Voice.
It allows the user to write text in the chat or to be able to respond to other users.

c - Color.
You can use the command /setcolour and colour codes. This will allow users to colour their text with the color code of their choice. The command /setcolour also becomes active with this allowed for that user.

C - Capital letters.
You can decide whether or not to allow users to type in all capital letters or not (in chat slang typing in all caps is considered yelling).

k - Kick.
It is the ability to kick users with the command: /kick

U - Unban.
It is the ability to unban a user with the command: /unban
t - Topic.
You can change the Topic (command /topic) from within the chat window.

m - Motd.
You can change the Motd (command /setmotd) The MOTD can be modified from within the chat window.

w - Watch Commands.
With this level you can see the commands of the other users (Watch commands). This level allows users to be able to read the commands typed by anyone including admins. Anything post '/' shows to users with this Access.

i - Show IPs.
You can see user's IPs when they enter.

l - Show Levels.
You can see the levels of the user commands in chat by using the command: /level
M - OpMsg.
You can see the Admin messages. The command: /opmsg
n - Notice.
You can use the command /notice to anonymously write in chat.

N - Newline.
You can send multiple lines with command: #NEWLINE# or \n.This is useful for very long texts. Pretty much only useful for bots etc. not really needed for users.

q - MaxConnections to Room.
This level simply allows a user to make multiple connections with unlimited nicknames used by admins to allow them to enter with Bots or other clients, This also overrides the /MaxConnections setting.

r - Redirect.
This is the ability to redirect the channel to another (/redirect somechat_123456789012). It is a command for Admins only.

p - Private Messages In Channel.
The ability to send private messages (in chat) with the command: /message

Places a + in front of their name in the user list.

@ - Symbol.
Places a @ in front of their name in the user list. This is so users can see who is admin.

/Users 0

This is the name of the server as it shows in the chat room,

/ChatPassword
Set a password for your room if you wish it to be private or members only etc.

The following commands block a user from using these commands in the room and they can only be done in the server window.

/BlockCommand Ignore=0
This blocks the command /ignore you do not wish to see.

/BlockCommand SetColour=1
If set on "1" it stops the command /setcolour

/setAdvOption ShowRefused=1
If this command is set on "1" it shows a message to all users in the chat room when another user attempts to unsuccessfully enter the channel.
It also shows the cause of the unsuccessful entry in the case of a nickname not allowed or if the user is in the ban list.

/setAdvOption FloodKick=1
Activates the protection of Autokick, which automatically kicks all the users who send flooding messages without level "f".

/setAdvOption AllowInfiniteBan=1

/Block XXXX
This allows you to block offensive words like swear words etc and email companies.

/Replace XXXX=f***
Instead of blocking the swear words you can also replace them with funny or popular words.

Known Issues:

The /redirect command:
When using /redirect to move everyone from one channel to another channel will often loose a few users, This often fails to users on a dynamic IP like DSL that will change frequently, and also when users are on a wireless router or a DSL multi/networked connection (having more than 1 pc using same connection) will either not move or will fall out and will not reach the destination.

The /exile command:
When using /exile to send a user from one channel to another channel will often fail if the user is on a dynamic IP like DSL that will change frequently, and also when that user is on a wireless router or a DSL multi/networked connection (having more than 1 pc using same connection) the user will probably not move.

Connection Errors:
When a user cannot enter the channel due to a connection error, you will see an admin message stating the users IP and an error code,
Error codes are anything from -5 to -10006, most of the time it means that the user who is trying to enter has got connection or stability problems, or the room/host has a large amount of lag,

Users Can't Enter
If people are reporting not being able to get into your room you need to check a few things.
The first being do you have a router or DSL modem with NAT. If you do have you forwarded ports like you had to do with WinMX?
Is the firewall installed allowing the program on the server port your using.

Hosts's file not found.
This is because the host file that comes with FXServe needs to be manually updated everytime their is a change to the caches, this should not be a problem when using the ws2_32dll patch

Here is an example config

FXS 1.3.9 & FXS 1.3.10betta Tutorial & Config Empty
PostSubject: Re: FXS 1.3.9 & FXS 1.3.10betta Tutorial & Config   FXS 1.3.9 & FXS 1.3.10betta Tutorial & Config EmptyThu Aug 09, 2007 8:36 am

For anyone that wants to host on fxs1.3.10beta, heres the setup
FXS 1.3.9 & FXS 1.3.10betta Tutorial & Config Click

it will connect using ws2_32dll

Unlike previous versions of FXServer, there is not a 'hosts' file, there is now three ways to connect your FXServer,
1. Connection through your WinMX on it’s Primary connection, (please note: if you close connection of Winmx, the FXServer will loose connection also)
2. Connect through Cache IP’s that you add directly to your config, you may add up to ten IP’s, this is explained lower down in the options and on the config.
3. Connect through the ws2_32DLL 3rd party connection patch, do not add the cache ip's in the relevent section in the config, pop the DLL in your FXS folder.

There is also a separate motd txt file as this you can add entry pictures to as they are with no need of \n or #newline# this makes the config less conjested and allows greater flexibility.

Click the icon to start your program, your firewall if you have one (you should for security) will ask for permission to allow the FXServer, click yes to allow full access (tick the remember this application if its available)

Each time you start the server, it will check for updates. Then the main screen will show.

The top Section is your user list, when you right click on a name in the user list you see options for adding or removing admin & access levels and changing formats.
The left screen shows the primaries that you are connected to, this is a suggested maximum of 3.
The main window is where you see all the commands including loading the config and general chat.

There are some check boxes for Preferences,
Show Room: This connects the primaries king your room show on the WinMX Peer Network Channels list.
Local Host is always Co Host: This is for auto host when you enter your room, you don't need an admin password when this is enabled.
Show Commands: Disable or Enable the Show Commands, this will show all commands including the sever commands in the main chat screen for everyone to see.
Appear Admin: Hide or Show the Admin status of the FXServer Host.
FXServer Host Name: Here you see the host name, the check box will hide or show the host name on screen when in normal conversation.

In the Menu Bar (top left) is FXServ, Language and Help (question mark)
Click FXServ, in a menu you see Options.

There are five tabs: Options, Passwords, Advanced1, Advanced2, WPN

The Options Tab:
Channel name: Enter your channel name here
Topic: Set your topic that will be displayed in the channel listing and on entering the room here.
Motd: Set what your Message Of The Day will be here.
Port: Set what port you want to use. This is best left at 6698.
User: This is where you can set the virtual number of users shown in the channel list.
Max Users Connections: This is the max number of users with the same IP that can enter, For example if a user enters with WinMX and a chat client.
Limit (max users allowed): this is how many users are allowed in the channel, (0 means nobody can enter)
Remove: This will allow you to remove some or all of the numbers that follow a user name. 9 Will remove the default ones WinMX Peer Network gives users.
Exile Default Room: This is to set a room to redirect users to.
Blocked Words: This will block those words and they wont show up in the channel screen to everyone, but admins will see them.

Messages shown in channel or private for gaining @ or + status and correct login, these can be coloured to your own preference for the user list on the FXS window.
Messages shown in channel or private for loosing @ or + status and correct login.
You can add other messages for different levels (ie: someone has the k access can have a separate message to @ and + access)

This is where you add up to ten cache IP’s and tick the checkbox to use the preferred caches.

WPN connections (maximum of 3 connections is recommended)

Make A Primary Connection To Local WinMX tck the checkbox and add the port number (6699 is default WinMX port) to connect FXS through your WinMX.
